Try the M42 and M44 4-cylinder engines that came in the E30/E36/Z3 which have a big fat rubber gasket between the the head and timing cover that fails right after warranty and almost instantly dumps all your coolant on the ground. Requires a full head gasket job to repair (which you'd probably need anyway since the car almost certainly overheated). Compared to Saab almost every little part is intricate and almost overly thought out, but often for no really point and then there'll be something totally stupid like that where Hans did seem a little drunk on the job.
