but I don't need to ride in sand per se. It's mostly sand blown across sidewalks and roads. I have the same size tires on my current bike and they are good compromise. Our town is built on sand dunes so it's very hilly. The fat bikes feel a little "squishy" to me--not sure how I'd like them roaring down one of our many hills (on pavement). Plus you have to spend a lot more to get one that isn't a tank weight-wise.
