eEuroparts has been promoting their Rowe "synthetic" oils for a while now, and had the marketing idea of tracking actual users' results by giving away oil & filters & requiring Blackstone UOAs on the runs. They trumpeted these tests as real-world testing to show the superior quality (and validate the higher cost) of Rowe oil. The tested oils are mostly Group III "synthetics," so there's nothing ground-breaking about their construction. And most (all?) of the tested oils are dual-rated, so they have better additive packages.
In my opinion, these "stress tests" are a complete joke! Typically, the oil capacities (or make-up oil volume) are large and the OCIs are short. The latest UOA is a perfect example: A 2008 Mercedes E550 with an M273 V8 motor. This is a 5.5L engine that holds a whopping 8 qts of oil, but its OCI was run for a scant 5,000 miles. And this was with their "premium" dual-rated 5W-40 oil. How is this a "stress test"?? I've not seen a single run that has actually stressed the oil!
I'd be interested to find out if anybody here has a positive opinion of their results so far?
