Turn your Saab factory radio into a modern bluetooth/USB for $20 Posted by JerseySaab [Email] (#666) [Profile/Gallery] (more from JerseySaab) on Thu, 30 Apr 2020 11:30:49 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Having used FM transmitter-type adapters in the past with iffy results I wasn't expecting much when I saw this device being hawked on Scotty Kilmer's youtube channel, but it was only $20 at Amazon so I figured I'd give it a try:

Boy, was I surprised! This thing quite literally turns your old factory radio into a modern media center that can pair to bluetooth phones and play audio from USB flash drives as well as MicroSD cards and line input for wired audio devices. Sound quality is very good with no noticeable noise or static, and the user manual is clear and easy to follow (sometimes a problem with inexpensive Chinese gadgets).
The only problem I see is it just sits in the cigarette lighter socket. Although very lightweight I can see this being a problem if the fit is loose. I found in my 9000 I could provide support by opening up the ashtray part way and positioning the device's gooseneck. Another issue is if your only power outlet is the cigarette lighter you can't use it for anything else. This is mitigated somewhat since the player has 2 USB charging ports; a traditional USB 2.0 port as well as a "smart" charging port.
