Only drawback with a "thumb drive" is it's read-write, so you could
delete the files by accident. Burning the MP3s to a CD or DVD is
safer for long term storage, but then the laptop would have to have
an optical disk slot. And even DVDs don't store as much as thumb
drives.
It's a good time for digital audio, tools and hardware (i.e. USB audio
adapters) are readily available and storage is so cheap that's no longer
an issue. We're slowly in the process of digitizing
our LP collection, but it's time consuming. We use a program called "audacity"
to split up the files, very powerful and interesting software.
We can now have our favorite music anywhere, cell phone, laptop, bluetooth
from the cell phone to the kitchen radio or outside speakers, whatever.
But it still sounds better played from the turntable through the Kenwood
amp and the boxy Advent loudspeakers from ... I guess now 40 years ago.
Wow, the captcha challenges are getting hard!
