Gathering info for a TIS2000 / GlobalTIS Updated Guide Posted by iveand [Email] ![]() ![]() |
I recently got a "Chinese Tech2" + accessories including a patched TIS2000 so I could activate new key fobs for my "new to me 2006 9-3 SS" (it only came with 1). It took some time, roadblocks, and confusion, but I finally did get "Security Access" working by using a different source for the patched / cracked TIS2000 than I was given as part of the Tech2 purchase.
Anyway, I would like to write up a brief updated guide on how to get "Security Access", but had a few questions first (better here than only on the 9-3 board I think for broader input).
1. For cars newer than ?2007? or ?2008? TIS20000 doesn't work, right? Instead "GlobalTIS" is needed? Does GlobalTIS work for older cars too? Meaning could I use it for granting Security Access for my 2006 9-3? Or is it instead "TIS2000 only for 2007-" and "GlobalTIS only for 2008+"?
2. DB9 / RS232 to USB adapter. Has anyone tried and had success with a USB adapter so as to *NOT* need the physical DB9/RS232 port? Possibly using VirtualBox?
3. I may test TIS2000 with W10 32-bit. I had that running but couldn't get "security access", and then replaced it with XP and still had the same "Security Access" issues until I got a different version of TIS2000, so I think it may be possible a W10 32-bit install may possibly work. I am interested in re-testing since if we can have a maintained internet-enabled OS it may go a long way to "future proofing" our use case.
Thanks for any feedback so I can better summarize how to make this work for noobs like me!
