Have “import fees” made international parts impossible?

Probably many of us have used international parts suppliers usually when we were unable to source certain parts domestically. Certainly we have many excellent parts vendors in the US and they are our first stop for the parts we require. But since the imposition of additional tariffs and elimination of “de minimus” exemptions “import fees” have become an unknown cost making internationally-sourced parts costs a great unknown. It’s not just the tariffs, but shippers have added other charges that are often impossible to determine before a purchase or shipment is completed and a bill is received. The Supreme Court ruled certain tariffs were illegal but any refunds appear to be going to shippers, not the consumers who actually paid the tariffs. Even after the Court’s ruling, significant additional charges on international shipments have become normal, with actual charges being cloaked in mystery. In recent times I have been tempted by rare parts from international vendors I have used in the past, but hesitated, faced with unspecified “import fees” that could make the part too expensive, or could even exceed the price of the part. I am curious about the experiences of other SaabNet users and opinions about whether internationally-sourced parts are no longer a viable option for most of us. Thank you for your input.
