not build SUV's within NAFTA? No transport or tarrif charges, direct access to the biggest market and CHEP labor! An MNC's dream!
The Mex built V dubs are excellent. Back in the day when VW first started building Golfs and jettas in Mexico, there was a quality difference. Now there seems to be no difference in quality between those Bugs/Golfs/Jettas built in the Fatherland and those assembled in Mexico. Remember, they only ASSEMBLE the cars in Mexico. The mechanical bits all come from Germany from names we love, such as Bosch, Fuchs, etc. What essentialy happens is that VW builds a plant in Germany and ships the whole deal to Mexico, minus the walls and roof. With automated production, the importance of human factors is diminished.
