Andrew, have you by chance noticed the number of TDI VW's on Dallas freeways? Also diesels are HUGE in Europe which is not exactly a small market. Also with emissions regulations tightening for big diesels, the general should be spending a few bucks on R&D, instead of complaining that the regulations will eliminate the market. They used that same line 25 years ago. I remember one statement that stated prechamber designs like the old Honda CVCC would never be able to control emissons on a GM V8. GM stated that it was the size of the engine and lower fuel use that was the great contributor in the case of Honda's design. So Honda bought a Chevy 350 cid engine, put their heads on it, and PASSED the original 1975 EPA standards w/o a catalyst. The standards that the market finally had to meet were interim standards that were not as stringent. GM was and still is stuck in the we've never done it that way and not invented here attitude. It amazes me that they continue to be the economic powerhouse they are.
