History is repeating itself Posted by Keith [Email] (#1462) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Keith) on Sun, 13 May 2001 17:47:40 In Reply to: Volvo's Euro-quality woes, John A., Sun, 13 May 2001 10:24:26 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I happened to pick up a book called "Lemon, The World's Worst Cars" a few months back. It claims that the 1970-76 models made by Volvo were basically junk:
"Everything from paint finish to basic mechanical systems was prone to failure. It was all part of the quality control issue..." (page 124)
It seems that history, for this company, is repeating itself. I must say that I do like the current cars they are putting out, but this quality control seems to be quite an issue.
By the way, Saab was only mentioned once in the book, but on a good note. In a paragraph about front wheel drive, it reads, "Some recent examples have shown signs of conquering the problems inherent in this configuration, and it has generally become accepted with the advent of such successful front-wheel-drive makes as the SAAB, the Toronado and the Subaru." (page 20)
It's a good book, you might want to check it out.
