Oil drain plug installed w/o copper washer, unbelievable...

Well, I just got back from my indy, without my Saab. Why?
I tried to change the oil on my 9000 Aero for the first time today. I was prepared for the classic over torqued bolt, and tried many things which ended with rounding the whole thing off with a *12mm* 6-sided socket forced over it. At this point, I gave in and took it to the my local independent Saab shop.
They soon realized the there was no copper washer installed under the bolt. I should have noticed this, but I have only changed a Saab's oil a few times before. Anyway, all their efforts were unsuccessful since the bolt was torqued unbelivably hard onto the oil pan to prevent it from leaking without the washer. The mechanic's keeping the car so that they can try some bolt surgery to release the tension caused by the flange. I'm sure they'll get it off eventually, but at what cost?
You might wonder how any Saab dealer could have managed to forget the washer. Well, that's easy. It wasn't a Saab dealer. I bought the car from a Subaru/Audi/VW dealership. I don't know how they could've forgotten to at least put the old washer back on, but they did. I'm not going to risk taking the car back there to try to solve the problem. I'd rather have my mechanic do it. However, since this problem is their fault, does anyone think that I might be able to get them to pay the bill? Worth a shot? I really don't need to end up paying a couple hundred dollars for an oil change.
