First, get the balance checked on all four wheels. Also, ask them to check if the wheel is out of round. If it doesn't go away, have the front suspension looked at. It might be a worn ball joint, I had similar tire wear problems with the wife's Volvo until the ball joints were replaced. Or the bushings might be worn, these are the rubber bits that seperate the suspension control arm from the radius arm and the front subframe. When they wear, the suspension feels sloppy and usually tire wear problems develop.
