Cowl Shake and Cupholder questions

Hello All,
I'm new to the board, and will be a 98 900SE convertible owner Saturday. It's my MLC car (mid-life-crisis) I'm selling my stodgy Mercedes C280 to get into a sporty car. 2 questions - I was concerned about the amount of cowl shake, even going over minor bumps, during my test drive. The only other prior convert I ever drove was a Sebring and it didn't appear quite as prominent as the 900. Any tips out there? Also, the car does need new tires (53K miles). The OEM is 205 50 16 - Can I go with 55's to soften the ride a bit and possibly lessen the cowl shake? I'm more into a nice quiet ride than tight corners. #2, Any advice on locating a couple of those fold down cupholders since the OEM is so poor. Other than that I'm really looking forward to cruising. The car is in beautiful condition, was a lease return. Any other advice or general information would really be appreciated! Thanks, and looking forward to knowing you all,
I put this on the NG900 board as well, want to cover both bases.
Dean in Massachusetts (no accent though - originally from Illinois).
