I was talking to a friend and told him that I was purchasing snow tires for my saab. And he hit me with a question that I couldn't answer or B.S. an answer for. The question was as follows:
Why was it necessary to by snow tires in a city like Chicago? Most of the time there is no snow on the street and all season tires would be fine. When the snow did fall wouldn't it be far easier to use snow cables for added traction. His theory was that snow tires, with exception to performance ones, have lots of wiggle when driven on clean roads. Good all season tires offer some snow capability but more comfort and less wiggle than snow. His thought was to use the chains when necessary, durning a snow fall when the streets are not yet clear.
O.k. guys, I would like to have a really good answer to offer so please help me out.
Mike
