Disturbing conversation (longish)

I was talking to my friend the other day who is the original owner of a 1990 SPG, which has something like 60K miles on it, but is a little beat up (little dents, faded paint, drooping headliner) but still a sweet car... His birthday is coming up and he tells me he is thinking of buying a new car... I ask "why?" and he says he wants a change. I say "what are you gonna get" (hoping the word "viggen" will be included in the response) he says "a BMW 330 ci"
..... must control myself.....
"WHAAAAAT? A BIMMMMMER???!!??"
"Yeah, its a good car"
"But its not COOL!!!! or a SAAB!!! or UNIQUE!!!"
"I like it, I dont like the new saabs" (I sorta agree here but still....)
"But its a BUTCHER'S CAR! It wont go ANYWHERE in snow! It looks like a Japanese car!"
"I think the saab sucks on snow"
At this point I give up. This friend is obviously not mentally healthy... Who replaces a beautiful SPG with a bimmer??? (I dont want to offend the BMW folks here, but I HATE BMW's)
I guess that maybe in 1990 an SPG was a cool car, and now a 330 ci is a cool car... I dont keep up on this stuff. (afterall, to a majority of americans an Explorer is a "cool car")
But REALLY.... I just dont get it!
Just needed to vent...
