http://www.turbobricks.org is a good site though a bit performance modification oriented... I owned a 1993 940T and it was a truly good car, really only lacking in outright dynamic ability. But reliability and general ownership issues were great. I do know a few Volvo mechanics, and most advise to avoid 960 / V90 cars with the straight 6 cylinder engine, the four cylinder turbo is definitely the best bet, the naturally aspirated fours are kinda slow. The last four cylinder cars were sold in the US in 1995, though they continued in Europe for another few yesrs. A few things to watch for are: rot in the floor (if water gets in through a seal they can rot from the inside out), the gearshift lever can stick in Park (there was a recall on this), if you're in the snow belt, you will probably want snow tires, cos they are tricky in the snow on all season tires, power locks and windows can become intermittently inoperative. But basically, these cars are based on a very old design ant the mechanicals are well proven. I personally would take a nice 1995 945T over any current production Volvo.
