The key to installing these dash kits is to make sure to do it when you have a lot of patience and won't rush things - having a helper may also be a benefit when putting down the larger pieces of the kit. You can lift the pieces up if you have only put down a very small section of the piece, but if you put the entire piece down, forget about lifting it up. I found that using wherever a given piece has straight edge to use as a starting point to lay the piece down worked best for me.The New England Wood Dash kits use 3M adhesive, which is quite strong. Also, they will mail you samples of the various types of wood available, so you can look at them in person (and in your car) before selecting the wood that you like best. The kit comes with a cleaner to apply to the dash to remove any silicone (Armor All etc) in order to maximize adhesion.
Now the wood shift know I have not yet seen, but sounds like something I may also want to look into.
