part time "mechanic" worked part time during college in a local gas station - mainly doing Petroleum Transfer Engineering (read: puming gas, cleaning the bathroom..)

anyway, our owner was too cheap to buy a real tow truck so when we towed cars we did it the old way - hook up a chain while some poor soul rides in the car in back steering and braking.

Well one day, we needed to pick up a senior citizens car - older woman on pension no doubt - since the car didn't start. It was a winter day in Buffalo NY. As the owner drove the truck, I got stuck steering and braking. Did fine until we pulled in front of the service station - he braked suddenly - with out signaling - I hit the brakes - slid and banged the front bumper.

Needless to say, our unscrupulous owner got the car to start, and didn't mention to the woman that we hit her car. He simply drove the car back to where it was when we picked it up - he backs the car into the parking spot expsoing the front. He then claims that he did nothing - someone in the parking lot must have hit her car....
