parsons is supposed to be getting better (the co. which bribed/bought its way into the inspection monopoly from whitman) but the system in place is pretty strict. very strict indeed. however, like the poster below said, you may get lucky if you get people who hate their jobs. for the most part, just pay your $60 to get it inspected at the private facilities (gas stations) and bribe them with either a real bribe or a repair and they'll pass it. you can also go to junk yards and buy inspection stickers taken from wrecks, but be careful bringing up the topic. most forged stickers have disappeared after a couple crack-downs and since they forgery-proofed the stickers. the only saving grace is you now can make an appointment to have your car inspected (say, 10am on trhusday?)
otherwise, your real problem will be insurance. no geico, no progressive, no allstate (or another biggie). soon state farm rumored to be leaving. welcome to new jersey with the highest insurance in the country. and highest property taxes too. luckily, we make the most too in the counutry, so I guess that offsets it all?
good luck.
