I know that snow tires handle better in the snow and was not trying to state otherwise. My point was that in Southern New England driving in heavy snow does not occur that often. Last winter I only had to travel once in a large snowstorm and I have ski races every weekend, and lowering my tire pressure gave me all the traction that I needed. I should have added that I have summer performance tires that I run in the summer. So my suggestion should have been stated as: All-Season tires for the colder months and performance tires for the warmer ones.
