OT: Looking to learn Linux...Recommendations?

I am looking for a book to teach me Linux, but before I put down $40, any books that are better than the rest? I am quite skilled in Windows and Mac environments, but have had absolutely no *nix/Linux experience. The ideal book would cover all the basics, plus lots of advanced material as well? Do such books exist? I have been scouring the web for info, but all the (free) material I have found so far starts off with shell commands, and I have no clue about the way the filesystem is organized yet...
Thanks!
~ben
