is unique to Saab. The head, all internal components (pistons, rods, crank, etc.) and the trionic engine management system are all unique to Saab. Saab was heavily involved in the development of this engine from the start. And the Saab version is the only 2.0 liter version and the only turbo version.
BTW, all Saab engines started life as someone else's engine. 2-stroke - DKW, V4 - Ford, 4-cylinder turbo - Triumph. This GM engine is by far the best starting point the wizards in Trollhatten have ever had. Take a look at the stats on the new engine, it produces more hp and torque from the same displacement as the current 9-3 engine with less boost pressure. (210 hp/221 lb.ft. at .85 bar vs. 205 hp/209 lb.ft. at 1.0 bar)
