Back in college, I found myself sans car and looking to buy something. I had liked SAABs but wasn't sure I could afford one. One day while walking around the drillfield (VA Tech), I told myself that if I saw 5 SAABs by the time I walked around the drillfield, I would buy one. Sure enough I saw five. Within several weeks, I managed to find an 84 900T Sedan with 103K miles (this was 1993).
I absolutely loved the car. I kept it for 2 years but ended up selling it to my brother b/c I was moving to Atlanta for work and did not want to spend $$$ to fix the A/C (Atlanta can get hot). Anyway, I bought a '92 Maxima SE which was a nice car (FAST) but not a SAAB. In 1998, I leased a Passat (the Maxima was in need of lifters so I figured it was a good time to move on) for 4 years (MISTAKE).
The Passat was nice but I longed for a SAAB. Finally, earlier this year, I turned the Passat in and found a nice used 1996 900T. I LOVE IT.
Although there are little things wrong with it, I still find it 1000 times better than the VW. It is much faster and better looking (IMHO).
I have accepted the fact that I will always drive SAABs (as has my wife) and will ultimately be known to my kids friends as the SAAB guy ;-)
The way I loon at it is there could be much worse things you could be addicted to than SAABs.
