I'm surprised to hear that. Would it be possbile that you got the refurbished unit? Did you use the digital EQ to adjust the sound? I have the Casablanca on my 93 9000 Aero for two years now and am quite happy with it. I bypass the stock amp (couldn't figure out the DIN connector pins) and hook it up to a 500W Alpine amp powering two 12" subs and 5 1/2 speakers. The sound quality is excellent and much better than my previous Denon 950R which was one of the best CD decks a few years ago.

I agree with #4 comment but the problem was solved by getting a steering-mounted remote control which is a huge convenience. I find the illumination is difficult to read during the day, not at night as you stated. Also the face plate connectors could be improved. It often falls off whenever I hit a bump or pothole. Other than that I'm very happy with it.
