Surely, the hit on Johnny Sacks was called off, after he went to Tony to make amends over the Ralphie issue.
Interesting that Johnny's own boss would approve a hit on him.
I think Johnny was somewhat in denial about his wife's weight problem; instead of taking it out on her, he was displacing his anger on Ralphie. He finally was able to yell at her and let his feelings be known ("Look what you've done!"), but then when she prodded him for an explanation, he sidestepped and replied, "You've lied to me"... Little did she know, somebody almost got wacked because of her weight!
Gotta love the little details, and you're completely correct about the cell-phone call in an elevator! And the fact that Ralphie got in the elevator with the hitman. Delicious irony...
I'm sure Ralphie would have said something quite rude to the Asian guy had Tony not recently reprimanded him for his "comments"... Ralphie might have wound up gotten wacked anyway!
Also, the hitman's details were not lost on me, he had the typical Asian guy accoutrements: he was driving a Honda Civic del Sol, and he was using a high-tech Ericsson T68i phone! Actually this phone is known not to have the best reception; Ralphie's REALLY lucky that the call went through!
