The 90 and 91 were the first civilian aircraft projects for Saab when it was just an airplane company. And since the first car was the next civilian project the engineers just gave it the next number in sequence. And as KeithB said, it just stuck. 92 was the first car, 93 was the second, 94 was the Sonett Super Sport, 95 was the wagon version of the 93, 96 was the next generation of the 93, 97 was the Sonett II, 98 was a project car that wasn't built and 99 was the late 60's/early 70's sedan. From there it just isn't so logical. I guess the engineers weren't in charge of naming the cars any more.
