First off, I have to say I really like the look of the new Hummer. It and the Xterra are about the only SUVs that get my attention.
Mike, I’m glad you asked about if there are doubts if an SUV is important to Saab. I would like your opinion as you are at a dealership. I can see that an SUV would sell to a Cadillac buyer but do you think that a Saab SUV would do well? I perceive a Saab buyer is (or at least considers themselves) a bit different than a ‘normal’ automotive consumer. I would guess that the things that appeal to a Saab consumer are that a Saab is different, safe, and efficient. Rarely does this describe an SUV.
I previously posted this question: Assume small sporty coupes are back in. Would it be wise for Jeep to make one? How well would a Jeep sports car sell? It just appears to go against the grain of the Jeep philosophy. Kind of like a Saab SUV?
I suppose the main advantage is that this could draw an entirely new crowd to Saab. I guess that’s the point isn’t it. But is this the route Saab should take?
