Years ago when I was in High School a carload of us were driving on Rt. 2 near Waltham MA at about 80 (kids, what can you say?). A car passed me on the left as if I were standing still - a blur. In an instant he just took a right off the road in the middle of nowhere - kept his speed up but just went flying off the road at 100+ mph - sailed into the air, through a cluster of trees. Most amazing damn thing any of us had ever seen.... it was like he was flying!
I slammed on the brakes, came to a stop quite a way down the road. We had a lively argument about whether to go back, as we feared the worst. I insisted that we had to - no one else had stopped, and this car could not be seen from the road - he'd be there for hours.
We went back. The car was a convertible, and had come to rest on its back in a clearing past the trees. As I approached this hand came out, the occupant trying to free the door. The car was smoking so we (mouths wide open) helped the guy out of the car. State Police showed up (driving thru back yards to get there), see the tangled mess of a car and approached us. I told him the driver, and sole occupant, was standing by a bunch of tree, apparently absolutely unhurt, but shaken. The cop was stunned - "you mean this ^&$^ is still alive?".
Apparently this guy had fallen asleep at the wheel on his way from NJ to Boston, doing about 100, and had fallen right across the front seat. When the car hit he was, somehow, still lying down and walked away without a scratch.
Luckiest son of a b*tch I've ever met.
