So almost three years ago, we bought a used 1995 Saab 900S from a private party. Everything about this Saab was perfect; the seller owned a body shop and he treated this Saab like an extension of his body. But he wouldn't let us drive it before we bought it because he claimed that it was uninsured and unlicensed. HA! So like fools, enamored by the glorious Saab, we said ok and bought it. What happened when we were driving it home? Yeah, check engine light came on with its obscene orange glow. And I felt like I was stopping the car with my feet... brake pressure was haardkör low. Serves us right! So the next day we took it to our local exclusively-Saab dealership, Spreen's Saab in Hackensack, NJ. They kept the car for a whopping NINE DAYS while trying to figure out they problem. Brought in an identical model and began swapping parts between cars in order to diagnose the issue. Finally they found it. Back when the previous owner decided to take out the master cylinder for whatever reason, he forgot to put back the O-ring that creates a vacuum in the brake system (pardon my ignorance) and that was what caused the check engine light! The cost of the O-ring? Less than one dollar. The labor, of course, should have been in the range of a thousand dollars but they only charged us $300, bless their pretty little Saab hearts. At least we knew after that whole ordeal that the car was in tip-top shape, every single goddamn piece of it was tested!!!
