I worked at the Good Guys for all of about seven months when they first opened up here in the Seattle area. I was not at all impressed with their sales strategies that seemed to have nothing to do with making the customer happy. Apparently neither were the salespeople, because over half of the staff left sooner than I did!
Those prerecorded telemarketing messages have got to be the dumbest idea for selling product that I've ever heard of. I cannot imagine who would actually buy something as a result of hearing that. The return rate on those 'advertisements' has got to be microscopic, but apparently somebody feels it's worthwhile. If I have find the scum who told people to start doing that... :)
I find it hillarious when I come home to find a message on my machine and it's one of those prerecorded ads, with the first 20 seconds cutoff. It almost makes me want to call the number just to laugh at the people.
