when it first came out on 9000. Of course, full pressure is very
thrilling. I wish I had an Aero.
Having said that, LPT engine is a very good compromise. Due to quick
spool-up of small turbos, turbo lag is nearly non-existent in LPT engines.
Also, because of turbo, torque curve is very flat. Think about it, how
much money did Honda spend developing VTEC technology? Their goal
was flat torque curve. Saab achieved this goal just by installing
a light pressure turbo. I'll wager that Saab did not spend 1/10 of
what Honda spent developing VTEC technology, and still 2.0 LPT torque
curve is much flatter than VTEC torque curve. Of course, 2.0 LPT has
peak torque which is much higher than Honda VTEC engine of closest
displacement.
With LPT, Saab finally tamed the turbo.
thanks
