I agree with above posting that if you wanted to do something regards this incident, it should have been to call the cops. We pay police to enforce our laws and to protect us from punks, and punks might just think twice before repeating this behavior in this future if the cops had gotten involved and delivered them a message. We all should take some responsibility for protecting the interests of society as a whole, and this includes standing up for individual rights and getting involved where laws need to be enforced or changed.
I believe that number one problem in the US is the general breakdown of common courtesy and respect for the rights of others, not to mention the laws. We see this at all levels of society, in politics as well as business and everyday life. I recently had to stand up to two of my neighbors, whose dogs were constantly barking and occasionally defecating on my property. When I asked them politely to get their animals under control, each acted like I was violating their rights, but when I warned them that I would get the authorities involved, I heard things like "well it's my wife's dog, I have to talk to her" or "what about the noise your kids make", and even astonishingly "can't we all just get along". Take responsibility and be accountable, and respect the laws and rights of people in your community. One neighbor did not get the message, was taken to court and assessed a $100 fine, and still thinks I violated their rights, but their animals are now controlled. I made the system worked for me, and another neighbor thanked me, but did not have the guts to initiate any action.
