How stupid should one be to make Opel guys take responsibility? It is outright funny.
Let me make a guess what a Saab will look like 5 years from now:
1)the car will have build quality worse than most of the competitors
2)the car will be overpriced for the market segment it competes in
3)the car would be technologically inferior to the competitors
4)the car will be less reliable than most of the competitors
5)the car will not have anything (brand appeal, safety, performance, marketing etc.) to offset any of the above, except for the 0-0-0 financing which will be the main selling point.
How do I know that? Look at Opel. All of the above is pretty much applicable to Opel (dunno about 0-0-0), especially to its newer models. So why on earth GM gives responsibility of running another brand to people that ruined their own? Or can anybody remember an innvovation brought by Opel? So why trust them with R&D? I guess the only logical explanation would be the "special" mentality of the GM management, and even more so, I am sorry, GM shareholders.
Now from that, you can draw the conlcusion that it really was inevitable.
