I've been running the numbers myself, as I am in the market as well.
If you have any questions call SAAB USA in Georgia. They faxed me a complete GM suppliers price list. Basically, the price should be invoice, less incentives. I'm not sure which car you are looking at, but for a 9-3 convertible the incentive is $3,000 on a lease $5,400 on a purchase.
It sounds like buying is a better deal, but you have to keep 2 things in mind:
1. The interest rate on the leases are practically zero. The $3k is a reduction in the capital cost, not subject to residual %. This means your payments are reduced by almost the entire discount.
2. If you lease the car, in most states you will not have to pay sales tax on the residual value unless you later buy the car. Therefore, take your state tax rate times residual value. That gives you how much of the $2,400 discount differential goes to the state. On the convertible I'm looking at, I'd lose about $1,300 of that $2,400 immidiately.
Given the poor resale value of my current car, it's not worth risking the $1,100, just to have equity. The leases are a good deal, unless you plan on keeping the car forever.
Good luck
