Having BTDT, before you do this thing, #1 sit down and make a comprehensive business plan. Figure out in total what it will cost, then add 25%. #2 If you don't write down and stick to a schedule for the day,(Closing time means "GO HOME") say good bye to the wife and kids. You spend more time at work as your own boss than you ever did as an employee. #3 You may be a nice guy, but stick to standard business practices. e.g., "I'll pay you next month if you fix it today." Uh-uh, don't do it. Either cash or credit card. Nuff said. #4 Don't let yourself get behind paying the bills. Creditors will smile while they sue you for your underpants. Initially, pay up front for most everything.

Finally, after all this negativism, the feeling you get when you own your own business, and you are making money, is wonderful. It's like nothing else. Enjoy yourself and best of luck.
