So what's the concensus on the best Synthetic weight oil. I heard that Mobil 0w40 is good but for a moderate climate isn't 0w a bit thin and would lead to more wear. The Mobil 20w50 sounds better for good protection. Is there a 10w50? I'm just running Mobil 10w30 I get at Costco and it is running great in a '91 C900T with 83K miles. In a moderate climate 10w flows fine and I have no noise on start ups. It gets 20 degrees sometimes here in Portland, Oregon. 0w40 claims to give better gas mileage but is that worth it to also get more engine wear? The 0w40 supporters say easier start ups but are they talking about -0 climates?
Lets have some good comments so we don't need an Episode 3!
Best, KB.
