If so, you probably don't want to seal, or even wax a new car until it's 6 months old, or so. At least that was common wisdom when laquer-based paint was the standard. Laquer based paint takes time to cure. Solvents continue to evaporate for some time after it's initially applied and baked.
However, that makes me wonder about the paint protector that's put on the car at the factory, and removed by the dealer as part of dealer prep.
