you can get a full set of free-weights and have a real workout. I have about 350 lbs of free weights, a full size bench/squat/leg extension, dumbbells, you name it, all for less than about $450 new. Look for stores that specialize in free weights, DO NOT go to department stores, they are WAY overpriced and the benches are sub-par, my opinion. If I had paid $50/month for a health club membership, to date it would have cost me $6,000, since I bought the weights ten years ago.
