I've found that expanding foam (typically used during frame construction and after 'rock work has been done to seal cracks) is a great SS sink insulator. A typical bowl will take two cans and it has to be put on while the sink is out of the counter, but after it has expanded and set, WOW! talk about insulation (both sound and temperature)! During a party you can use the sink as an open top ice chest to keep bottles of wine chilled.
You will probably have to do some "sculpting" for the sink to fit into the countertop cutout, but the effort is worth it. Try it folks, it really works.
