...I usually use it instead of Word. It lacks some of Word's more powerful features, but feels so much quicker with a more intuitive interface, IMHO. The speedsheet and database tools are quite good too. That said, I couldn't do without Word as I have to deal with other people's files, which are, of course, in Word format and AppleWorks 5.0 won't import them. I also hear Office OSX is great. No way I could have afforded Word except for the educational license though. My blunt recommendation, use AppleWorks, get a bootleg copy of Word for when you need it.
