Having spoken to both SoundDomain and Rockford Fosgate, they both agree with the amp-to-cap-to-ground install. As far as power and caps goes, I'm planning on adding two more amps to drive some mids in the dash and maybe a single 10" sub. So, my thinking is a more stable current, say, in the summer with a/c on and the lights, and the fog lights, and the stereo. Would you not agree a cap would help in this situation?

Now, speaker popping. On the advice of Slaab, I purchased a Peripheral low-voltage trigger to control the amp power. Just hooked it up and it works great. Power is now controlled by the head unit via the DIN cable amp-on pin. Slaab said his speaker popping disappeared after installing this, however, mine still pop - only when I power down. Having talked to the above mentioned people at Rockford, they said I will never get rid of this with the factory head unit and the only cure is to leave the head unit powered all the time (in other words, don't use the on-off switch on the head unit, let the ignition control it). That works but I really don't want the head unit/cd player going all the time. Rockford said this will have no adverse effect on the amp so long as volume is all the way down.

The people at SoundDomain said there is a product by Stinger, part no. SPSOFF that will delay the power off after the head unit signal is terminated, hence, eliminating the speaker pop. But they don't sell it due to lack of demand.

Anyone tackle this problem with success?

Greatly appreciate your responses, Doug P 99 9-3 57k
