The parking brake is integrated into the shifter? That's just asking for a mess. The parking brake is often an earlier failure on cars. It's a bunch of cables and stuff under the car getting blasted with water and salt, it's not going to last forever and having some little electronic motor trying to operate so you can get your car in gear just isn't going to work. I mean come on Toyota, you can't even reliably build a truck frame that last a few years in winter climates, you really think your finicky little shifter controlled parking brake mechanism is going to hold up?
