German Fords have always been very good driving, pleasant cars. I still remember driving my friend's Contour V-6 with a 5-speed -- that was a very solid car. The Fusion is wonderful, the C-Max is really nice for what it is and I just spent a few weeks in a rented Ford Escape (Kuga) -- what a pleasant surprise! That was a very nice driving car. I see the Escape advertised for mid-$12k brand new -- wow, I could definitely live with it for the money.
Now trucks and SUVs -- that's a different story. Before I leased my Chevy Traverse I test drove an Explorer -- yuck, what a blob. Then I had a rental Expedition -- my, how do they make such an enormous vehicle so cramped inside?! It drove as bad as the F-150 I rented a few years back. The only Ford truck I liked driving was the Flex, especially with the 350 hp V-6 turbo. Wish that car was available with a manual!
