Well you can say mid-pack if you average two entirely different ratings. I don’t know what the deal is with the different states, but it’s the same car in every state. There are different rules on sales and registrations in different states. My 2001 9-5 ranked #1 in the 30 day rankings, but the later mid and long term reliability rankings were in the toilet, which was consistent with my experience. So I take the JD Power stuff with a grain of salt, but Tesla has been at the top of other owner satisfaction surveys and I’ve heard good reports. Owners of other brands have incentive to like their cars as well. But none of that is definitive of course.

I paid mid-50s for the long range AWD model including some up charge for the paint and a tow hitch. There actually was no other car I was considering. I probably would have kept driving my A4 Avant unless some other electric car caught my eye. I read about the Jag and Audi e-cars, at least $20k more for considerably less range. I read about the Hyundai/Kia e-cars, cheaper but less interesting to me. Earlier I considered an ICE Alfa Stelvio, but rejected that for various reasons.

So time will tell, but thus far I love the car. This is the first car I have ever owned where I look for excuses to drive it because it’s fun. Other than rotating tires, the first scheduled maintenance is check the brakes in 2 years.
