But we weren't in 4WD. It was a sport so it had the "CommandTrac" rather than the "SelectTrac" which has the full time 4wd option.
If you're refering to the my comment of the newer ones getting 22mpgs, well the best I have ever gotten is 20mpg on the highway but I have a heavy right foot. I have however heard these numbers from several people who drive them daily.
My family used to have a 1995 Grand Cherokee Ltd. with a V-8 and "QuadraTrac", which is full time 4wd with a low range option on the transfer case. On the highway the best I could ever get was 17mpg while my dad could consistantly get 19+mpgs.
BTW, that truck was so much fun to drive. It was super comfortable with a soft ride and pillow-top seats. Had lots of power and great traction, it was a whole lotta fun on forest roads. BUT, the damn thing needed repairs monthly. The number one issue was the viscous coupler, I think we replaced it twice. When it went out the third time we got rid of the Jeep.
