The same correlation could be made with Saab. For the same money, you could buy a Honda and have little or no problems with your daily driver. However, I'll take may chances with the Saab. It's a much more pleasurable car to drive, better to look at, and unique, kind of like a Ferrari. Yeah, it costs more for many (not all) of the parts and service but, to each their own.
In regards to the Ferrari, it's a low volume, hand built car. Most of the parts are expensive and the labor varies depending on shop and location but who cares? If you can drop that kind of money on a car, maintenance cost shouldn't be a concern. Yeah a Porsche or Corvette will most likely be cheaper to operate but "everyone has one" (relatively speaking). They aren't nearly as exclusive as a Ferrari or Lamborghini and I think there in lies the appeal. I guess I don't see a person in a Ferrari as big of a putz as I do when I see someone in a Hummer H2.
