I'm renting a Toyota Matrix while my Saab's in the body shop. It's no Lexus and won't handle as wonderfully as a Mazda3, but it is quite fun to drive, has excellent visability, great rear legroom, good hauling and since it's been around for a few years (to be re-designed in 2008 model year) there are LOTS on the used car market. The Pontiac Vibe is virtually the same car, with originally a higher price but it depreciates probably faster than the Toyota. I haven't traked the mileage but other reports on epinions.com suggest it's good for 40mpg on the highway. That's great for a somewhat big/versitile car.
Just a suggestion. I am finding myself CRAZY for this little car. Totally surprised me.
