I don't know too much about SMARTs, except that I would already own one if they sent the roadster or the coupe here. With stick-shifts. But they don't. So I will have to wait until the AC Ace version gets made (if it gets made) http://www.projectkimber.com

As for air-cooling, we are lucky enough to have a Porsche 993 in the stable (last of the air-cooleds) and it warms up just fine on the rare occasion it is out in real cold. I say it warms up quicker and spits out hotter air than my GTI does or my C900 did.

So get it. Technology has come a long way since rusted VW heaterboxes. Worst case: you can retrofit some heated seats from the Can. model. Or have some aftermarket butt-warmers fitted. Or plug a hot-plate into the 12V...toasty.
