a vote for Prius Posted by Railhead [Email] (#93) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Railhead) on Tue, 27 May 2008 02:06:37 In Reply to: What hybrid to get?, Tom, Fri, 23 May 2008 18:27:13 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
You can bet gas won't be getting any cheaper. My sister has a Prius, and she's getting 47 MPG on a regular basis. About 43 when she runs on the freeway at 80 MPH between San Diego and Phoenix. A co-worker has one, and he loves it. I agree the Prius reminds me of the old 900's with the hatchback. If you buy one, I'd make sure it wasn't previously operated by a pet owner. From what I've read, Prius owners like to take their animals with them; more so than other auto brands. Another reason for my vote on the Prius: It will be the easiest to "green tune" in the future. Check out the web page calcars.com. Very soon it will be possible to plug in a Prius, and that will extend the range it can run on all electric. Honda has some nice vehicles, but Toyota is way ahead of the pack in the hybrid department. If you don't like the Prius, get a hybrid Lexus. ....Or just buy a VW with the TDI diesel. They also get outstanding fuel economy, however there is not much availability... Let us know what you decide, and post a picture of it. If I had an extra $25K, I'd get a RED one, but at the moment, I'll keep my 9-5 and be happy with 36 MPG.
