I was never a fan of the SSR... I liked the concept (El Camino), but the price was very offputting. $40k for a more or less completely impractical vehicle with goofy styling didn't make much sense.
But the Camaro/Audi comparison is a little odd... Comparing a high-po pony car to a Euro sedan is a little apples to oranges... The Audi will look and feel a heckuva lot better - but the Camaro owner probably won't notice as he walks away at every stoplight.
I kinda just went through this with my CTS-v. There aren't many cars competing in the big-engine, manual transmission, 4-door category. In the end, it came down to a V8-powered Audi or BMW, or the CTS-v. The CTS doesn't have the fit & finish of the Germans, but it's quicker and faster in every measure at a lower price of both acquisition and maintenance.
